An organismal survey of marine microbes, plants and animals gives students an appreciation for biological organization and evolution in the context of the history of marine science and present day research techniques. The lab component of the course gives students direct experience with organisms and systems studied. Experimental design and use of the scientific method is emphasized. This lecture and lab course is designed to meet 4 credit hours of general education credit in the biological sciences.
