AMH 2020  - United States History Since 1877

Credit Hours: 3.0
Prerequisite(s): None
Corequisite(s): None
In this course, students will trace the history of the United States from the end of the Reconstruction Era to the contemporary era. Topics will include but are not limited to the rise of industrialization, the United States’ emergence as an actor on the world stage, constitutional amendments and their impact, the Progressive Era, World War I, the Great Depression and New Deal, World War II, the Civil Rights Era, the Cold War, and the United States since 1989.  As a Writing-Intensive course, AMH2020 is designed so that students use writing to explore and develop their mastery and understanding of course content.  Students will experience the ways in which writing can help them learn something - about what they think, about what they have experienced, about the subject matter of the course, and about critical thinking in the discipline being studied. This course is also one of three designated Civic Literacy courses that partially meets legislative requirements for graduation.
