BSC 2085 - Anatomy and Physiology 1

Credit Hours: 3.0
Prerequisite(s): None
Corequisite(s): BSC2085L
This course is the first part of a two-semester sequence in which students examine human anatomy and physiology through a systems approach based on the interaction between form and function, from the microscopic components of cells and tissues to the organismal level. Emphasis is placed on histology and the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems. This sequence is intended for students needing two semesters of anatomy and physiology and interested in entering a Health Sciences Program. This sequence meets the needs of many students, including all pre-nursing students (bridge/generic ASN and BSN majors) and students who continue to an upper division health science program such as Health and Human Performance or Pharmacy. The course earns General Education credit in Biological Sciences. Successful students will demonstrate the skills necessary to understand and apply scientific concepts and reasoning, including the analysis and interpretation of various types of data.
