Dance Fundamentals introduces the student to the many elements of ballet, modem and jazz dance that characterize the history of dance throughout Western Civilization. These dance styles will be explored and compared through observation of films, attendance of live performances and demonstrations, studio work in dance techniques and participation in the experience of movement. Students will engage in extensive communication about and oral presentations on the patterns, traditions and structures that form the foundation of these dance techniques.
