This course is intended to provide an overview of regulations and laws applying to the health care system. Topics covered include the contractual relationship established between patient and provider, as well as patient and health insurance company, state and federal regulations regarding licensing, health care facilities, insurance, and state and federal laws governing health care, privacy, and bioethics. In addition, the course will give an in-depth look at the governing case law in each of these areas, as well as addressing issues surrounding liability in the health care profession, and medical malpractice.
