The combination of computerization and automation of many business tasks as well as the explosion of available data is changing the business world. To address this, business professionals are increasingly required to have an analytics mindset to perform their jobs. This course explores a variety of business disciplines through the application of business analytics. Students need to not only develop the skills to ask the right questions, but to learn how to use tools they may encounter in the workplace, to examine and analyze data, and then effectively interpret results to make business decisions. This will be the first of two courses in business analytics. This course will focus introducing the research process, the SOAR model, basic descriptive tools, and the appropriate software. These skills will be expanded and developed further in the Applied Business Analytics 2 course.
