Coding and billing professionals provide reliable and valid information for reimbursement, research, statistics and policymaking. This job requires a unique blend of skills. A coder/biller is a specialist who analyzes health information; is able to convert the health information to diagnosis and procedures codes that assist healthcare providers to receive proper reimbursement. The Medical Coder Biller program includes biomedical classes that clinicians are required to take as well, you will also learn computer technology, such as the E M R, reimbursement, and data resources. Coding professionals work in a multitude of settings throughout the healthcare industry including hospitals, physician offices and clinics, long-term care facilities, insurance companies, government agencies and home care providers. All courses in this certificate program may apply toward the AS degree in Health Information Technology.
